About
My name is Lucinda Reidling, and I am a graduate student at National University. This site is a collection of all of my work in my MA program.
I am originally from Orange county, I attended Dana Hills High School and was involved in the SOCSA program on campus. South Orange County School of the Arts (SOCSA) is a program integrated into Dana Hills High School which allows students to develop their interests in the arts during the school day. I graduated with a SOCSA gold medal in Dance and Choir. I was also involved in many student organizations namely the International Thespian Society (Treasurer), Dana Hills Improv Team (Captain) and many main stage productions.
After high school I graduated from Whittier College with BAs in French and English Literature. In my tenure at Whittier College, I spent two separate terms abroad in Paris, France. I was also heavily involved in student organizations. Whittier College does not have greek life in the traditional sense, yet the campus does house some local fraternities and sororities. One such society was the Athenian Society. I served as President, Secretary and Recruitment chair for the Athenian Society. I was also a member of the Whittier College Dance Team for four years.
My personality profile indicates that I am ESFJ (Extroverted Sensing Feeling Judging). This personality type certainly lends itself to those who enjoy leading critical analysis of texts. My goal is to have students identify their own opinions of a work (theme, plot, character development, critical analysis) and help them articulate these perspectives. Communication is a skill that all adults use daily, and I believe refining these skills in the classroom is our objective as educators: to create well-rounded, articulate young adults.
My learning style is ASVS (Acting Sensing Visual Sequential). I prefer to know how we will be learning the topics well in advance. I am a planner, and I prefer learning in a predictable environment. This will feed into my classroom management as I will ensure students are not blind-sided or caught off guard by any assignments or activities. I am also a visual learner which is not always typical of a learner in my subject area. I prefer to see how the sums of a whole work to create a complete picture. Under this mindset, I will ensure that students understand the social and political backdrops of the author's literary period, and have a rudimentary understanding of the thematic elements prior to engaging with the novel.
I am currently working on my Masters In Education at National University. I intend to teach high school French and/or English. I know what you're thinking, but it turns out I don't mind reading papers.
This site is to follow my progress in my MA in Education at National University.
