How and why we read
Before continuing, it is so important that each of us take a moment to consider why reading is important. Please take a second to engage with this video and consider how reading makes us communicators!

This video does a fantastic job of answering the question that I used to grapple with myself: what is annotation, and why do we do it? Follow through this video and consider the idea that annotation is your way of conversing with a text, and moreover it is a tool for understanding a text!

In sharing this video, I am not asking you to read a book a day. We will be working on novels for quite a long time in class. What I am hoping you glean from this Ted Talk is that we all have bad habits while we read, and now is the perfect time to start changing those bad habits!
